The century route is the cornerstone of the Buena Vista Bike Fest. You will take in the outstanding views of Colorado’s highest mountain peaks while enjoying the sunshine of the Arkansas River Valley. This is an ideal warm up for your summer riding season and is only a 2 hour drive from the Front Range! All routes start and finish at McPhelemy Park.
Schedule of Events
Friday, May 15
3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Packet Pickup at the McPhelemy Park just north of the only traffic light in Buena Vista.
Saturday, May 16
6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Packet Pickup at the McPhelemy Park just north of the only traffic light in Buena Vista.
7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The beautiful BVBF century route goes North to Leadville, along the scenic rolling hills of Turquoise Lake Road, around the Mineral Belt Trail passing aspen groves and conifer forests, meandering through the historic Leadville Mining District, and back to Buena Vista in the shadows of Colorado’s highest mountain peaks. Nearly all of the climbing is completed over the first 60 miles of the ride, with the last 40 miles essentially downhill to flat! Riders also have options to take shorter routes including a 40 miler, a 50 miler, and a “metric century” (62 miles) while still enjoying the Collegiate Peaks’ magnificent scenery.
Noon. until 6:00 p.m. The BVBF Party, presented by Bristol Brewing Company of Colorado Springs, producers of Laughing Lab Scottish Ale. Join us for great beer, music, and food. This is a great way to unwind from the day’s cycling challenge. Prize list will be posted near the entrance to the Beer Garden Area in McPhelemy Park. You must be present to claim your prize.
Rules of the Event
- You are required to obey all Colorado traffic laws and rules of the road.
- This is a self-paced ride, not a race. You may go as fast or as slow as you like. We ask that you pace yourself in order to arrive in Buena Vista at a reasonable hour. BVBF SAG support will end at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16.
- Please make sure both you and your bike are physically fit enough to complete the rides. SAG vehicles are on the courses Saturday for emergencies and assistance.
- ANSI and/or SNELL approved helmets are required for all registered riders.
Registration Information
Registration includes rest stops and SAG support, a colorful t-shirt for the first 800 registrants, detailed route maps, Saturday afternoon party presented by presented by Bristol Brewing Company of Colorado Springs, producers of Laughing Lab Scottish Ale, and post-ride meal provided by Jan’s. All this for only $55.

For registration, contact the secure site at Active.com. Registration will be accepted until we reach 800 participants. A small surcharge is added to the registration fee. All registrations will be available for pick-up at the McPhelemy Park in Buena Vista Friday, May 15, 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 16, 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Pre-registration Required
This ride has an 800 participant Cap. There will be no walkin registering. All riders are required to pre-register.

Friday, May 15, 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday May 16, 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at McPhelemy Park just north of the only traffic ligh in Buena Vista on the west side of US Highway 24 North.

The Trailhead will open late Friday evening (until 9pm) and early on Saturday morning (7am) before the ride to help with your last minute needs.
