BVBF Routes

Buena Vista Bike Fest - Routes All Routes Start & Finish at McPhelemy Park, Buena Vista, CO Leadville Area routes have been revised due to Turquoise Lake Road closure and construction on the Mineral Belt Bikeway. Rider packet information, route map and cues have been updated. Save a tree and don't print off a copy the rider information, you will recieve this information in your ride packet. DO NOT FORGET PACKET PICKUP WILL BE at McPHELEMY PARK in the LARGE TENT. Please do not go to the Best Western Vista Inn to pickup packets. (5/11/2008) The 35, 50 & 62 mile routes are out and back rides. The turn around point for the 35 miler is at the first rest stop at Timberline Tours. The 50 mile route turns west on CO 82 to Twin Lakes and Aspen via Independance Pass. The 50 mile can be extended by riding up Independence Pass. The pass is closed to through traffic at this time of year. Our support ends at the Village of Twin Lakes. The 60 miler continues north to Malta (our second rest stop) at US 24 and CR 300. The century route makes a loop passed the fish hatchery, a clockwise loop around Turquoise Lake and a clockwise loop on the paved Mineral Belt Bikeway through the Historic Leadville Mining District prior to returning to Malta, Balltown and Buena Vista. The route maps are in three segments.
Ø 35 Miler - Buena Vista/Timberline Tours near Granite Start from McPhelemy Park in Buena Vista between 8:30 & 9:00 am. You don't want to start too early because the BVBF Party doesn't start until 1:00 pm. Half Century - Buena Vista/Twin Lakes Ø Start from McPhelemy Park in Buena Vista at 8:00-8:30 am. You don't want to start too early because the BVBF Party doesn't start until Noon. Ride North on US 24 along the Arkansas River to the Timbeline Tours Rest Stop Ride west on CO 82 to the Village of Twin Lakes. This is turn around point unless you want to stretch your legs with some extra climbing. Return to Balltown and right on US 24 (south) to BV.
